She Spent Years Trying to Heal Her Gut, Brain Fog, and Fatigue. Here’s What Finally Worked

Normally healthy people sometimes find themselves in a sudden cycle of health concerns that they may not even realize can be related to one another. Common health problems that arise suddenly include weight gain, inability to lose weight, fatigue, mental fog, lack of concentration, digestive issues, skin problems and even disruption of the reproductive system. Once unusual symptoms hit, these people are left having spent months or even years trying to find a solution in addition to thousands of dollars down the drain.
They see numerous doctors, healers, naturopaths and specialists who can’t provide a single solution, and they often resort to attempting to self-heal with various hard-to-pronounce supplements, fasting or strange diets. Even if they make progress, they may find that suddenly their techniques stop working, and they’re left to solve their health problems from scratch.
Such is the story of writer and stylist Natalie Decleve, who found herself trapped in a pattern of fatigue, confusion, and an out-of-whack menstrual cycle. Her symptoms came about so suddenly and mysteriously that they were exhausting to understand and seemingly impossible to treat. She assumed her issues were caused by factors such as excessive stress, lack of sleep, eating foods to which she had an intolerance, alcohol consumption and other common habits.
While eliminating or overcoming these habits is very helpful for improving overall health, it may not fix specific issues or those that occur concurrently. Decleve also noticed a change in her menstrual cycle upon cessation of hormonal birth control. Like her, some women go months or years without a normal cycle due to hormonal interference or imbalances, and they’re told by their doctors to wait it out with no results.

Others are told to treat the problem with even more hormones, which is a frightening suggestion for those who have hormonal imbalances to begin with as the cause of their symptoms. Decleve attempted to treat her problem by adding on lean muscle and cutting out carbs with no improvement. She was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome and told to take more birth control as a remedy.
Some sufferers are advised to try natural solutions for sudden health symptoms. Like many women, Decleve tried daily doses of blackstrap molasses and apple cider vinegar but only saw minimal results. She did see improvement in her energy levels through natural brown seaweed extract. Even still, it was reassuring compared to standard treatments and chemicals that were even less efficient.
Like many people, she also suffered from gastrointestinal distress upon the consumption of wheat. Such problems are exacerbated by stress and poor eating, and some health problems can elicit digestive dysfunction or vice versa. Continuing on with poor lifestyle habits, she developed leaky gut syndrome and severely restricted her diet in order to avoid discomfort.

Also on her list of symptoms was the common condition of fatigue. She was found to be low in the T3 hormone, and this had a negative effect on her energy and ability to concentrate. She was again advised to start hormone therapy and refused due to the disappointment of never having doctors seriously consider the relationship between the various affected systems of the body. A long-standing “unsolved case” like hers comes from the fact that many physicians refuse to acknowledge that issues involving multiple systems of the body can have the same root causes. This may be due to personal bias or lack of experience dealing with wider range symptoms.
Instead of relying on standard treatments, Decleve decided to rely on her own sense of well-being. She began by separating herself from toxic relationships, meditating regularly, appreciating the foods she could eat and dwell on healing instead of sickness. Once she changed her perspective, her brain fog and digestion improved tremendously. Many people have claimed relief from illnesses by changing their thought patterns. Similar to the placebo effect, an individual can control the way his or her body responds just by how they view their body and sense of health.
