Biker Boys

I grew up in a town 13 miles away from one of the biggest motorcycle rallies in the U.S., I’m sure that’s part of why I am so drawn to bikers, but I think some of it just comes naturally. I am very drawn to bikers, the big burly hairy ones, the long lean ones, the ones on classic old bikes, the ones on new customs, all of them. Something about hearing a nice motorcycle engine gets my heart pounding, pulse racing, and my face flushed.

When I say bikers, I do mean bikers. I have known bikers with no wheels, and I have known a lot of people with motorcycles that are not bikers. Owning a bike does not make you a biker any more than watching Grey’s Anatomy makes you a doctor. Being a biker involves looking at the world through your own eyes, not the expectations of others. It’s about being true to yourself, your family, and your friends. The most important part is the love of the wind and the open road, and understanding that the journey is what really matters, the destination is the frosting.

I have not done much riding over the last few years, I don’t own my own, which is a personal preference and now not sure if it’s an option, I get muscle spasms in my right leg and I don’t think that’s very safe, I also have a hard time climbing on and off with the limited mobility of my right leg, I may buy a trike or something someday, but for the most part I am a ride on the back kind of girl. I like snuggling up to someone I love while riding and enjoying the view together, I also think I get too distracted too easily for safe riding.

When I look at men, and I do, a bike ups the attractiveness points a lot, the ability to make me laugh even more. I especially admire loyalty, to one’s bike family as well as one’s own.  The rally here is just a blast, people everywhere, horrible traffic, constant noise, I love it. It’s like a giant carnival for grown-ups. This year is the first year since I moved back to the area that I didn’t work every day, and yet it’s also the very least I enjoyed the rally, although I was able to have a little fun, was in the middle of moving and I tire easily.

My kids laugh at me when we see a beautiful man on a bike and I stare, my daughter says “Mom is that going to be our new daddy?” just to be funny. My granddaughter was born that way too, she would not not keep her hat on when it was cold no matter what, when we stopped in the Harley Davidson store I found a purple and black kid’s hat and she loved it, she kept looking at herself in the mirror and laughing and patting the hat, so naturally I had to buy her her first Harley gear.

I have met people who ride all over the world, some online, some from being here, I worked in an open air bar as a kid and had a great time. I always look forward to seeing as many people as possible that are only in the area that time of year. If you come here for rally, please remember that the mountains are not the place to learn to ride, and that bikes and booze don’t mix. Call me if you can’t get a cab, I will be happy to safely deliver you to your campground, motel, or wherever you are staying.
