The human body has a great tendency to fight illness and recover on its own, but gradual dependence on medicines takes away this magical self-healing ability. When it comes to ailments, today’s generation seems to be more vulnerable than ever. According to a recent study, it is found that majority of today’s youth is affected by ailments which would earlier be diagnosed mostly in elderly people. One of the ailments that keep oneself off the track and disturbed all the time is back pain. Back pain has become a phenomenon so common that most people tend to overlook its existence only to realize that it has become worse as they grow old. Back pain is pretty much preventable if you know the causes. So, here are 5 things that can cause chronic back pain:

5 Things That Could Be Responsible for That Nagging Back Pain

Inappropriate Workout

People start working out as a beginner and as their stamina builds up and strength improves, they strive to pull more weight and/or push past the number of repetitions they are actually supposed to do. If you are taking your workout regime a level up without expert consultation, you are likely to develop back pain which may nag you for the rest of your life.

Sitting in the Chair for Hours

A corporate employee can relate to this situation better than anyone else does. Sitting in the chair and staring at computer screen for hours not only causes back pain but it affects your eyesight as well. Most corporate employees are made to work for hours and since they do not take breaks often, their backbone gets stiff and aches relentlessly. Even if you are pressed for time to take a break from work, you should at least stretch your back every 30 to 45 minutes to prevent stiffness.

Poor Mattress Quality

Every individual takes around 8 hours of sleep, which translates to one-third of the day. If working for 3-4 hours at a stretch can hurt your back this much, you can well imagine what 8 hours of sleep on an uncomfortable mattress could do to you. Thus, it is important that while sifting through online mattress sale in Brisbane or elsewhere, you should pick your match wisely. It’s better to shell out a little extra towards your mattress purchase than to pay hefty medical bills later on.

Sports Injury

If you are like most sports enthusiasts, you have probably gotten a fracture or muscle sprain at least once in your life. While limb injuries can be treated easily to restore the strength and functionality of your arms/legs, a serious back injury leaves you with only two choices: either get a surgery or get along with the back pain for the rest of your life. In order to prevent back injury, one must be cautious of tripping hazards while running and must wear safety belts while lifting heavy weight.

Commuting

If you commute on a daily basis via public transport, you are not getting the comfort that you need after a long, tiring day at work. This only adds to the back pain and makes it worse by the time you reach home. If you are working hard for a living, at least treat yourself good with a private conveyance for commuting so that your productivity at work is not compromised.

Conclusion

Back pain is absolutely preventable if you follow a healthy lifestyle or at least spare some time from your busy schedule to look into things that are causing this trouble. Do not let back pain gain on you or eat away at your comfort and peace of mind. It takes a little attentiveness and some basic measures to keep back pain and many other more or less similar ailments at bay.
