Apple cider vinegar (ACV) has a multitude of uses. From being beneficial to your health to getting rid of fruit flies in your home to its power to cut through dirt and grime, it’s no wonder apple cider vinegar has gained such popularity over the past several years.

Extraordinary Uses for Apple Cider Vinegar

Trap Fruit Flies:

If you have fruit flies in your home, you can trap them quickly and easily using apple cider vinegar, a bowl, and some seran wrap. Pour some ACV into a bowl, and cover it with seran wrap. Poke a few holes in the top of the seran wrap, and let the bowl sit on your counter. The fruit flies will be able to get in, but they won’t be able to fly back out.

Clean Your Eyeglasses:

Home Remedy Hacks recommends mixing equal parts ACV and distilled water in a spray bottle. Shake the mixture well. Spray it on your eyeglasses, and wipe cleans with a soft microfiber cloth.

Wrinkle-Free Clothes:

Spill coffee on your suit and need to change in a hurry, but all your clean clothes are wrinkled? Don’t fret. Apple cider vinegar is great for getting wrinkles out of clothes quickly. Non-Stop Healthy suggests mixing one part ACV with three parts water in a spray bottle. Use the spray bottle to mist your wrinkled clothes. Put your clothes on a hanger, and allow them to sit for a few minutes. Your wrinkles will flatten right out.

Eliminate Trash Can Odors:

Your trash can inevitably stinks sometimes, even after you’ve taken out the trash. Healthy and Natural World asserts ACV can help you get rid of the stench in your trash can. Soak a slice of bread in apple cider vinegar, and place it on a paper towel in the bottom of your trash can before you sleep. Allow the vinegar-soaked bread to sit at the bottom of your trash can overnight, and remove it in the morning. Your trash can should no longer stink. You can also use this method to get rid of odors in other places as well.

Unclog Your Drain:

If your sink or tub drain is clogged, you don’t need powerful chemicals to unclog it. All you need is some apple cider vinegar and baking soda. Pour nearly one-half cup of baking soda into your sink or tub drain followed by one cup of ACV. After the foam settles down, run some hot water down the drain to clear the pipe.

All-Purpose Cleaner:

Apple cider vinegar makes a great all-purpose cleaner, according to Non-Stop Healthy. Mix one part ACV with two parts water, and put the solution in a spray bottle. This solution is great for cleaning bathroom and kitchen surfaces.

Remove Stains from Pots and Pans:

Vinegar is also great for removing stubborn stains from pots and pans. Place the stained pot or pan on the stove, and add one to two cups of apple cider vinegar and equal part water to it. Bring the mixture to a boil, and allow it to boil for approximately five minutes. If any stains remain after this process, scour your pot or pan as you typically would. The stains should all come off.

Help Your Flowers Live Longer:

Reader’s Digest recommends mixing two tablespoons of sugar and two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar into the vase’s water before you put your flowers into it to prolong the life of your flowers. The site also suggests changing the water every few days for best results, being sure to add sugar and ACV to the vase’s water each time you change it.

Remove Sticky Residue:

Having trouble removing sticky residue left over from a sticker or tape? Saturate the area with vinegar. After allowing the vinegar to sit for several seconds, you should be able to easily wipe away the residue.

Delete Furniture Scratching:

Pour some apple cider vinegar into a spray bottle, and lightly mist the areas of the furniture your cat likes to scratch. Cats don’t like the smell of vinegar and should stay away from the furniture you spray it on.

Apple cider vinegar has numerous uses. It’s one cooking ingredient you don’t want to find yourself without.
