Weird But Powerful: 4 Homemade Cellulite Treatments

[nextpage title=”…”]
Cellulite affects around 10% of the male population, but it is most common in females. Somewhere between 85% and 90% of all women have cellulite. Contrary to popular belief, cellulite does not only develop on overweight women. Cellulite has the appearance of dimpling on the skin and it is found most commonly on the thighs, buttocks, and around the knees. Connective bands of tissue beneath the skin connect deep layers of fat and muscle to the skin above. This forces the fat into a honeycomb pattern. Subcutaneous fat bulges around the connected tissue and causes the dimpled look. Decreased blood flow to these areas can make the cellulite more dramatic in appearance. There are a few home remedies you can try to lessen the appearance of cellulite. Many of these homemade cellulite treatments work very well on a temporary basis, and you can find these most of these ingredients at your grocery store!

4 Homemade Cellulite Treatments

Gelatin

Cellulite worsens as a woman ages because her body is no longer producing as much collagen as it once did. Gelatin is made from animal collagen, and consuming it can turn up your body’s natural collagen production. Flavored gelatin is often packed with sugar, so it’s better to get some sugar-free gelatin powder from a health food store. Just add a few teaspoons of this powder to water, juice, or tea and consume it daily. It won’t taste like anything, and it will dissolve quickly. So, gelatin is one of the safest homemade cellulite treatments. Within a few weeks, your cellulite may be less noticeable.

Seaweed

Seaweed cellulite treatments, also known as thalassotherapy, require the use of hot water and seaweed. Seaweed contains iodine, which improves circulation enough to lessen the appearance of cellulite on a temporary basis. Your skin will be smoother, and the seaweed will detox your system as well. To give prepare a seaweed wrap, get a 2 oz. package of wakame seaweed strips at the grocery store and soak them in hot water until they are soft. Then you’ll simply drape the strips over the affected area and wrap the body part in a sheet. You can also mix 8 oz. of seaweed powder into water, olive oil, and essential oils until you have made a paste. Spread the paste onto the skin affected by cellulite and wrap the area in a sheet.

Cucumbers

Cucumbers are a great source of skin-nourishing vitamins, and they also contain phytochemicals that can tighten and firm the outer layers of skin. To use a cucumber to combat cellulite, simply cut a cucumber into slices and rub the slices onto cellulite. You should see the affects very soon after applying the cucumbers, and the cellulite should be less noticeable.

Coffee

Many cellulite creams contain coffee grounds and/or caffeine. This is because caffeine improves circulation and tightens skin. When caffeine is applied to the skin, the blood vessels directly beneath the skin will dilate and the increased blood flow will reduce the appearance of cellulite. To make a coffee scrub, take come coffee grounds and add almond, coconut, or olive oil. Spread the mixture onto the problem area, and then cover it with a plastic wrap for around 10 minutes. Wash off the coffee and enjoy a temporary cellulite fix!

Even though all of these at-home remedies are effective, it’s important to remember that there is no cure for cellulite unless the bands of tissue that cause them are cut. Cellulite is natural, and almost every woman has some cellulite on her body.
