She Shares Her Way of Treating Chronic Inflammation

A woman by the name of Leslie Craine cured her rheumatoid arthritis by consuming a drink made from one simple ingredient. Ms. Crane had been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis in the 1980s. Twenty years later, she suffered from incredible pain in her knees and chronic inflammation. She reports that her husband had to lift her out of chairs because the pain was so bad that she could not bear to stand up.

If you’d like to try this drink for yourself, you can buy tart cherry juice or make your own by pitting tart cherries, boiling them in water, and straining the juice. Adding beet juice can enhance this drink’s anti-inflammatory properties.

Chronic Inflammation

Chronic inflammation has become a frequent occurrence in our modern world. Inflammation is usally a short-term reaction to an injury or illness, and it plays an important role in healing. However, prolonged inflammation can cause many health problems, including cancer. Luckily, there is a juice that calms chronic inflammation.

Consequences of an Unhealthy Diet

The standard American diet is one of the main causes of chronic inflammation. Processed foods, fried foods, and refined sugar all cause the immune system to turn against itself. Scott Zashin, a professor at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, states that these foods cause the immune system to become overactive. This leads to fatigue, blood vessel damage, and joint pain. Other consequences of chronic inflammation include:

Obesity
Irritable bowel syndrome
Arthritis
Dementia

Tart Cherry Juice

Tart cherries may be as effective at treating inflammation as over-the-counter pain relievers. The fruit gets its anti-inflammatory power from antioxidants known as anthocyanins. A study at Boston University Medical Center found that eating just ten cherries a day lessened the effects of inflammatory diseases. Another study published in the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition found that drinking cherry juice for 7 days reduced muscle pain in long-distance runners.

Water

Drinking water can also lessen the effect of chronic inflammation. Our bodies are comprised of 70 percent water, and it is very important to our health. Drinking enough water helps to keep blood oxygenated, prevents urinary tract infections, and keeps the kidneys working properly. Water also flushes out the toxins from unhealthy foods and fights inflammation. It is recommended to drink at least eight glasses of water a day, and it’s best to drink a glass of water as soon as you wake up as well. Purified water works best at beating inflammation. For added benefit, you can add some sliced ginger to your water. Ginger contains compounds known as gingerols that further soothe inflammation.

Green Tea

Drinking black and green teas also fights inflammation. To make good anti-inflammatory tea, choose fresh, organic tea leaves. Ready-made, bottled teas often contain high amounts of sugar. Boil water and then allow your tea leaves to steep in the water for at least five minutes. These teas contain polyphenols and antioxidants called catechins. Both of these compounds have been proven to fight inflammation. Black and green teas may be able to prevent cancer, lessen the effects of Crohn’s disease, and treat viral hepatitis.

A poor diet and unhealthy lifestyle can contribute to widespread inflammation throughout the body. This inflammation is very damaging and can cause serious illnesses such as cancer. Fortunately, drinking tart cherry juice, water, and tea can lessen the damaging effects of inflammation in the body. It is important to discuss any major dietary changes with a healthcare professional, so make sure to inform your doctor if you plan to drink tart cherry juice and/or tea to reduce inflammation.
