I like a little ground allspice in with my coffee grounds, I also like cinnamon, I usually alternate. I know the health benefits of cinnamon, but I started wondering if the allspice was doing me any good. It’s a spice you don’t hear about often, so I did some research and decided to share my findings with you!

  • The name “allspice” is a reference to the scent of its leaves and berries, which are reminiscent of black pepper, cloves, cinnamon, and nutmeg
  • It’s a digestive stimulant, anti-flatulent, has warming properties, and is an anti-inflammatory
  • Rich in vitamins A,C, riboflavin, niacin, and thiamine
  • Rich in minerals potassium, manganese, selenium, iron, and magnesium
  • Natural treatment for indigestion and flatulence
  • When combined with garlic and oregano oil it can help treat salmonella and e. coli
  • Natural remedy for stomachaches, vomiting and diarrhea
  • Natural remedy for menstrual cramps and  heavy menstrual bleeding
  • Can help treat fever, flu, colds, and fatigue
  • Allspice contains eugenol, a substance used as a local anesthetic and antiseptic in many dental formulas
  • An allspice preparation can be used topically to help arthritis, sore muscles, bruises, etc.
