According to a study published in Proceeding of the National Academy of Sciences, green tea extract, especially EGCG, a powerful antioxidant, prevents the formation of proteins called metal-associated amyloids, associated with Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative conditions.
Green tea contains between 30-40% of water-extractable polyphenols, with benefits reported for reducing the risk of Alzheimer and certain cancers, improving cardiovascular and oral health, as well as assist in weight loss.
