10 Signs You Might Have Diabetes And Not Even Know It

According to the American Diabetes Association it kills more people in the world compared to cancer and AIDS combined. The worst thing is the fact that approximately 7.9 million people are at risk of suffering from this polygenic disorder from which the leading cause may be having a poor diet. Most people brush off the early signs because they are not things that would make you decide to see a doctor. Neglect of simple problems leads to big ones. To truly change the trajectory of this disease it is important to look about for the following signs of diabetes and make the necessary changes:

1. Abnormally frequent urination

Someone with excess sugar may dismiss frequent urination as a sign that they drink a lot of water. In truth, excess sugar causes damage to vessels and urinary tract infections which could cause frequent urination.

2. Frequent dehydration

This is the body’s response to losing too much needed water when peeing. It is not enough to merely drink up once you feel thirsty. Check in with the doctor to make sure it’s a normal response.

3. Hormonal imbalance

High levels of sugar leads to huge amounts of insulin being produced. Until the level of insulin gets back to normal , hormones such as estrogen and progesterone will not be balanced.

4. Unexplained weight gain

Because there is too much glucose in the bloodstream, the body tries to get rid of the excess sugar by turning it into stored fat. The stored fat is then reflected as weight gain once you step on the scale.

5. Numbness in the limbs

Excess sugar causes damage to nerves and nerve damage manifests itself physically as a tingling sensation in the limbs or burning sensation.

6. Blurred vision

It is a polygenic disorder that changes body fluid levels especially the eyes. Increase in fluid in the eyes causes the lenses to be blurred and so will your environment.

7. Frequent cuts that heal slowly

Researchers have come to the conclusion that excess sugar in the body makes it hard for the body’s natural immune mechanism to work effectively. It is thought that sugar makes the blood thicker making it hard for immune cells to travel to sites of infection.

8. Sweet smelling breath

According to study coauthor, Gus Hancock, it is possible to use measurements of acetone in the breath to estimate blood ketone levels. The higher the ketone levels, the higher the blood sugar and the more likely you are to get this polygenic disorder.

9. Dark patches in the folds of your skin

The folds of the skin can be signs of diabetes. This include the back of the neck, knuckles and elbows. Excess sugar in the blood is often converted into melanin which pigments the skin.

10. Your hearing is worsening

Most individuals may dismiss loss of perfect hearing to an ear infection or simply just old age. According to researchers, this may be a sign that your blood vessels and nerves in the ear are becoming damaged due to high blood sugar.

Type I & Type II diabetes are so prevalent that people expect the body to show dramatic so that you know you are becoming sick. The most trivial problem could be a sign that something is not right and that it is just about to knock at your door. Look out for the signs if this disorder and get you glucose levels checked.
