4 Traits Of A Cheater You Should Recognize In Your Partner
When you’re in a committed relationship, you should be able to take for granted that your partner is faithful, and he or she should expect the same from you. But sometimes life throws us an unpleasant surprise, and we aren’t prepared to handle the situation. It would be nice to have a list of warnings that might alert us to a partner who plans to or has already cheated. Below are four traits that you should recognize in a cheating partner.
Change in the Frequency of Your !ntimacy. You want to watch for radical changes in behavior. For example, if your partner suddenly wants to be !ntimate all the time or never wants to be !ntimate, that could be a sign that he or she is cheating. The thought behind this is that he’s interested in another person, so he’s not interested in being !ntimate with you. Or, she is interested in another person, or has already had relations with someone who has “reignited” her drive, so she needs, even more, !ntimacy.
He or She Talks Too Frequently About Another Person. Sometimes when two people work or study together often, they can become attracted to one another. It’s natural. What’s not natural, however, is when you’re in a committed relationship and you act on the impulses. If your partner starts talking a lot about another person, especially of the opposite gender, and he or she seems excited about talking about them, be wary. If your partner has already cheated, he or she may talk negatively about the other person to try to distract you from the infidelity.

He or She Spends Too Much Time Away From Home. Depending on your partner’s work or school schedule, he or she may have to spend a lot of time away from home. But if you notice that the hours, especially after work or school, become extended and frequent, pay attention. Missing dinner, not showing up at the daycare on time, or staying overnight someplace that you’ve never heard of before are all warning signs.
He or She May Accuse You of Cheating. This is a warning sign right out of the Psychology 101 textbook. If your partner has been cheating, he or she may become overwhelmed with guilt. If so, he or she may start accusing you of cheating. This probably sounds like it makes no sense, but when you talk about feelings, there is no logic involved. The cheater accuses the person he or she is cheating on to quell his or her own guilt.
Remember that these warning signs are merely guidelines. If you believe your partner is cheating, it might be time to sit down with him or her to have a heart-to-heart talk. Cheating often is a symptom of something missing from the relationship. Best of luck!
