Summer has ended and fall is in full swing. This is the time of year that people begin to pack on their winter weight. As it becomes colder outside, it is completely natural to spend more time curled up under a comfortable blanket on the couch in front of your favorite television series.

The problem with this scenario is the putting on weight part. When the fall and winter passes and spring are in full swing next year, it is time to break out the old gym shorts and shoes to regain the beach body. Save yourself the agony of dropping the extra ten or fifteen pounds and maintain your beach body through the winter with these seven exercises you can do as you enjoy your favorite television shows.

Bottoms Up

Bottoms Up

This exercise will help maintain a tone lower back and glutes (butt). To perform the exercise, get down on all fours on the ground. From this position, alternate lifting one leg until your thigh is completely level with you lower back.

Tricep Dip Kicks

Tricep Dip Kicks

This exercise will tone your triceps, upper back, and lower abs. To perform the exercise sit at the edge of your seat, place your hands on the couch next to your hips on either side, extend your upper body over the edge of your seat with one leg out and one leg at a ninety-degree angle to the floor. From this position, lower your body down until it is just barely off of the floor and push yourself back up with your arms. Alternate lifting one leg up and keeping on firmly planted on the ground with each repetition, as you dip your body down.

Bicycles

Bicycles

This exercise will tone your abs, thighs, and quads. To perform the exercise, sit at the edge of your seat, extend your legs out over the edge of the couch, so only your butt is touching the couch. From this position, act as though you are peddling a bicycle while twisting your upper body from your core.

Leg Lifts

Lifting

This exercise will keep your love handles and hips in check. To perform the exercise lay on one side with your legs fully extended. From this position, lift your leg straight up in the air while keeping your leg fully extended. Alternate sides and perform the same action.

Knee and Toe Touches

This exercise will make you feel the burn in your hips, inner thighs, and quads. To perform the exercise lay on your side with your knees bent. From this position, lift your knee up while keeping your heels together. Perform the exercise on each side.

Split Squats / Lunges

This exercise will tone your glutes and hamstring. To perform the exercise, stand straight up and clear of any objects. From this position, extend one leg out and dip down to the ground until your knee touches the ground.

This exercise is the crème-de-la-crème of home exercises. It is a full body workout, meaning you will feel the burn throughout your entire body. To perform the exercise, get into pushup position with your feet on the couch. From this position, proceed to move your body laterally from one side of the couch to the other, walking with both your hands and feet.
